These procedures can be self-administered in that any authorized administrator can add or modify this manual. Your help will be most welcomed.
To add a new procedure, select "Add child page" and go. Be sure to "Publish" it when done. The index on title page will automatically add your new page.
You can also Add A Comment to any existing page to convey certain experiences, etc. (If there is an error or omission in the main content, please edit the main content instead of commenting).
After a cast of thousands and years in the making, I finally finished the new Media Center which is fully Drupal compatible. This means that any administrator can easily post new press articles, video and audio clips and more.
I created 2 content types, one for image, pdf and html types of content, the other for video & audio which can be either uploaded or embedded from YouTube, Vimeo and others. It's quite straight-forward. Just Create Content - pdf or video, give a title which will be the link, select one or more categories for the content (Press Article, Study, etc.) put in optional body copy (text and/or images)(On text, please use the "Paste as plain text" tool), upload the optional file and, if ready to go, check "publish" and "Save". The already checked "Promoted to front page" will automatically put it on the Front Page AND set the RSS feed.
If the 'old' way was an image then print as pdf is best if it's a print article of more than one page so that you can post it as one piece (see San Jose Magazine - Banishing The Bulldozer). If it's a print article of one page or smaller, an image would be best (See Alameda Sun, Island Recycling). In either case, the edit page has a field for the article's title which will link to the piece. The body copy called "Short Description" is the description for the Media Center home page. The Document field is where you upload the file that will get linked link.
If it's a website article, you have a few optionsL
1. Just put up the link to the article as I've done on a couple of the press articles (see The Daily Green) .You need to put the link to the article in the "Short Description" field. In the link popup window select the target Tab and select " New Window" in the Target popup list.
2 "View Source", make an html file of it and upload the html file (see Google News Alert)
3. Print as PDF and upload that (see Final Project Report)
4. Take a screen shot of the article and upload as jpg (
5. The risk of linking to another's site is that the article and/or images might go away as we already have in the Coast News article. So I will try to create a secondary body copy field for you to be able to copy the article's text and images to create our own copy. I'll let you know when it's ready. Perhaps you can give me a link to a candidate article.
6. Website article or if you have the complete text file like from MS Word or Pages, you can create fresh new content "Book Page" and create a stand-alone piece to which you can link as in #1 above. (This might be a worth a fresh look for a possible eLetters platform.)
For video on YouTube all you need to do is copy the "embed" code from the YouTube page.
To get to any previously published article, Go to Administer/Content and select “edit” of the target article. If it’s buried within the long list, filter by Type:Media Center Image or PDF
