New Places to Shop for Used Building Materials
This month I'm announcing the opening of two new partner retail-warehouses, one in Durham, North Carolina, and the other in West Haven, Connecticut. Both of these establishments have relationships with TRP that allow them to provide tax-deductible donation receipts for materials dropped off at their stores. In addition, both are eager to help homeowners, architects and contractors connect with local TRP-certified deconstruction contractors who can provide full-service deconstruction (as an alternative to demolition) on building-removal and remodeling projects.
The ReUse Warehouse, Durham NC
800 Taylor Street
Durham, NC 27701
Store Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00-6:00 and Saturday 9:30-5:00.
This warehouse was officially launched on August 8 by Durham Regional Manager Rick Morgan. Not only does Rick's store stock outstanding materials salvaged from old buildings throughout the state, it also sells materials from wholesalers and building-surplus sources at substantially reduced prices. Custom builders and fine woodworkers will be pleased to learn that the warehouse specializes in old growth, vintage lumber.
Reusable Green Works, West Haven CT
840 Boston Post Road
West Haven, CT 06516
Store Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00-5:00; Saturday, 8:00-5:00; Sunday by appointment only.
September 26 marks the Reusable Green Works grand opening. The store is the brainchild of the Mastriano brothers, Vinny and Pete Jr. They grew up in the C&D waste hauling business and believe that "the future can be built by reusing the past." For years, they've been collecting salvaged and discarded materials from Connecticut, Northern New York and Southern Massachusetts in anticipation of eventually opening a retail outlet.
