The ReUse Depot, TRP’s newest partner store, recently opened its doors in Bellwood, Illinois, just 20 miles west of downtown Chicago.

The ReUse Depot carries more reusable building materials than any other retailer in the greater Chicago area—and at lower prices. Store Manager Michelle FitzGerald has been working all summer to fill the 22,000 square-foot space with virtually every type of residential building material imaginable.

As of this e-letter, extensive warehouse inventory includes 2 1/4” oak flooring, full kitchen cabinet sets (some with matching appliances), furnaces, High Bay lighting fixtures, a bowling alley (including shoes and balls), lumber (new, used and old growth), windows (dozens of shapes, sizes and styles), gas and electric stoves, new and vintage lighting, washers, dryers and much more.

Two trained and certified deconstruction crews keep the inventory flowing. One crew deconstructs houses and commercial buildings so that everything salvageable comes to the store; the other strips pre-demolition houses, bringing as much as it can to the warehouse before the bulldozer shows up.

Donations are also accepted. Building owners and contractors who bring used materials to the ReUse Depot will receive receipts verifying their tax-deductible donations. If it’s building-related and reusable, the warehouse will accept it. Desirable materials include:

New Inventory

The Oakland warehouse has received several shipments of materials associated with the closing of a large commercial building, including glass doors, work benches, work tables, and stainless steel sinks with stand round tables.

New inventory at the Los Angeles warehouse includes a 1930s hanging lamp with decorative scalloped glass, a complete oak kitchen with solid oak cabinet doors and face frames, and a complete bathroom set, including tub, toilet and pedestal sink.
