TRP Yards and Warehouses
By Ted Reiff

As most of you know by now, we opened an office in the Denver/Boulder area of Colorado earlier this year and have been fortunate to certify a couple of local contractors. Due to unforeseen circumstances -- in this case good ones -- we now have a yard and small warehouse in Lafayette, Colorado, where we will be able to sell the building materials salvaged by TRP-certified deconstruction contractors in the area. We expect to have this yard open this month. Please call Kurt Buss, our Colorado Regional Manager, at (720)226-5646 for more specific information on hours and directions. The warehouse and yard are small and will suffice only on an interim basis until we can locate a larger space.

Our opening inventory consists of some great framing lumber -- about 20 units of varying sizes, with dimensions from 2x4 to 2x12 as well as some beam trusses, several thousand square feet of roof tiles, a good selection of doors, kitchen cabinetry, lots of trim, corbels, columns, lighting and plumbing fixtures. In addition, the warehouse stocks steel I-beams, appliances, oak t&g flooring, architectural panels (wainscoting) and a coffin elevator (seriously).

Of course, as previously announced we will also be sending materials to the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate in nearby Longmont, Colorado.

In Los Angeles, our warehouse partner, the LA affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, has suggested that we find our own warehouse. Because of the tremendous success that Lorenz Schilling, TRP Southern California Regional Manager, and Area Managers Arthur Renaud and Cheryl Sharp have had in this region, habitat is having a hard time absorbing all of the salvaged materials that certified deconstruction contractors are delivering. To assist us in leasing and starting our own warehouse, we have received two grants -- one from the California Integrated Waste Management Board and the other from the USEPA. We have started our search, but the warehouse market in Los Angeles is very tight and I do not think we will be able to secure a suitable space much before early 2008.

Our new flagship warehouse in Oakland, where we moved from the old Alameda Naval Air Station earlier this year, is jammed to the rafters with great materials and our sales have exceeded everyone’s expectations. To take the pressure off this facility, we are going to have to step up our efforts to find a warehouse in the San Jose area.

We are also in the process of redesigning our website to display the inventories at each of our locations. This process will take the remainder of 2006, so please bear with us. The launch of the new website will facilitate far greater diligence in updating TRP inventories. I am sure that many of you will be pleased about that.
