Who’s Who in Southern California

I have frequently alluded in this e-letter to the great deals, superb products and helpful employees at our warehouses in Oakland and Los Angeles. This month I want to introduce you to the people responsible for obtaining many of those materials -- our Southern California Regional Manager and Area Managers.
Lorenz Schilling is Regional Manager for the entire Southern California Region, which includes everything south of San Luis Obispo and Kern Counties. Assisting him in finding suitable projects for deconstruction and in selecting, training and monitoring TRP-certified deconstruction contractors in the region are Cheryl Sharp, Area Manager for San Diego County, and Arthur Renaud, Area Manager for West Los Angeles (including the coastal strip up to the Ventura County line).
In addition to his duties as Regional Manager, Lorenz oversees all projects in the balance of the region, focusing on the coastal cities from Orange County north to West Los Angeles.
Lorenz joined TRP four years ago when we first opened Los Angeles. Initially, he ran our deconstruction operation with a crew of deconstruction specialists from his region. Later, when TRP changed its business model to accomplish deconstruction primarily through local TRP-certified deconstruction contractors, he pioneered the new model’s implementation in his region. Today the region has five fully trained TRP contractors deconstructing an average of five houses per month.
In the 1990s, prior to joining TRP, Lorenz was a professional recruiter in the electronic media industry and a partner in the firm, Next Level Search. His clients were the companies and individuals involved in developing the visual effects and animation so prevalent in today's feature film, television and game industries.
In the process of piloting TRP's new business model in Southern California, Lorenz provided us with all the early systems and documentation required to successfully implement the new model. Additionally, his knowledge of recruiting, hiring and training has proven to be instrumental in the growth of the region. Last year he recruited both Cheryl and Arthur.
Immediately prior to joining TRP, Cheryl Sharp was general manager of a custom cabinet manufacturing facility in San Diego County, and before that was operations manager for a bank on Orcas Island in Washington. Her knowledge of construction along with her business acumen has re-established our reputation in San Diego as the “go-to” organization for deconstruction and building-materials salvage.
Cheryl's marketing efforts with high-end, custom home builders in San Diego have delivered full deconstruction projects averaging 4,000 square feet each and remodeling projects of 2,000 square feet. Her most recent project was a 14,000 square foot estate home in Rancho Santa Fe from which TRP gained some incredible materials, including hanging lights as big as trucks and an aquarium as large as a small condominium. Ok, I’m exaggerating, but only a little. Anyone interested in a 6,500 gallon aquarium?
Arthur Renaud, a long-time resident of West Los Angeles, began working for TRP in the fall of 2005, shortly after his own home was remodeled. According to Arthur, after witnessing the disposal of the materials from his house, he became an instant believer in our mission -- and that was before he even knew about TRP.
Arthur’s efforts have provided TRP with approximately 20 projects, the most noteworthy being the deconstruction of seven houses to make room for an in-fill development in Toluca Lake. He has a strong background in marketing and advertising and managed a 180-person telemarketing center prior to joining TRP.
This combination of talented individuals with diverse professional backgrounds has produced a truly successful regional operation -- one that we will be duplicating as we expand our reach across the country. Thank you Lorenz, Arthur and Cheryl! |
