EIGHT-SIDED GAZEBO

A Classic Eight-sided gazebo, (exempted metal components and ceiling) constructed with repurposed materials on foundation posts with roof having a moderate overhang beyond the sheltered area.

1. Overall Post Layout

Seven repurposed posts support the roof at the perimeter of the gazebo.

 

2. Footing Construction & Post Setting

2.1 Used leftover Concrete

2.2 New post base anchors bolts, washers and nuts, nails

 

3. Framing

3.1 Headers, rafters and cap plates from discarded wood.

3.2 Designed and handmade two eight-sided fasteners as a peak tie.

 

4. Install the Roof Covering

4.1 3/4-inch exterior-grade tongue& groove roof sheathing, edged with a drip edge, covered with 30-lb. roofing felt and clay roof tile (ReUse in Oakland CA).
